About

Before launching the current NeriSoft website, the NeriSoft name was used for a variety of purposes. This page offers a glimpse into the history of NeriSoft.

ANTI-MATTER, the first iteration of what would later become NeriSoft, was a pseduonym for a small group of programmers dabbling in code. More of an effort to increase their skills than produce anything of consequence, the group rapidly evolved from its launch in late 2000.

With growing skills came growing ambitions, and the group began to shift focus in 2001, seeing a name change and the development of the first website. Neo-Soft, as the group was now known, formed as a programming collective to collaborate on various projects. While still a learning experience, there was now an effort towards producing viable products.

As the website slowly grew and released new projects, it became clear that a full top-level domain name was needed. With this new legitimacy behind the project, it became time to once again select a new name. In 2002 the group was renamed NeriSoft, the name which it uses to this day, and a domain was purchased accordingly.

This was the brightest time for NeriSoft, and early 2003 saw a period of heavy release. A new website was designed to fit the more professional look of the group. Interest wained however, as various members of the group found themselves busy with other projects as well as real life obligations.

Site updates ended in late 2003, and in summer 2004 the site was replaced with a banner advertising the development of a new website. Eric Harmon, the group's original founder back in the days of ANTI-MATTER, sought to reimagine the group as a professional application developer. Hobbiest projects would be replaced with more viable products.

Though interest wained, in 2005 Eric found a opportunity with UpdateLink, a program which enhanced the Windows Update experience with an easy to use interface. Previews were posted on the website, but rapid improvements to Windows Update brought the project's cancellation.

Realizing that the transformation from a programming group to a small software company was out of reach, in early 2006 NeriSoft was again re-imagined. Now known as NeriSoft Media Group, it provided administrative work to a variety of websites developed by Eric Harmon, as well as served as the official sponser of a variety of open-source projects. The website was again pulled down during this transformation, replaced with a new message indicating a new website in progress. In mid-2006 this website was put in place.

In mid-2007, NeriSoft reached the state it is in today. NeriSoft Media Group was fully taken over by Eric Harmon and links to the projects he administrates can now be found on his official webpage. NeriSoft is now a hobbiest programming site, offering up utilities, tools, and other various tinkerings by Eric Harmon and other contributors.
